Holidays, a magical time of celebrating with friends and family . . . except that for some people it can be the most stressful time of year. Holiday functions are meant to be fun, not frantic. If the task has fallen on you to host an event or party, take a deep breath and relax. It doesn't need to be stressful. Here are a few tips to pulling off a flawless and memorable party this year:

-Plan ahead- Decide what you want to prepare and make a list for a timeline and what supplies and ingredients you will need.

-Keep it simple- Delicious food does not have to be difficult to prepare. Choose simple dishes and stick to what you are comfortable with. Now is not the time to experiment.

-Prep beforehand- Avoid being stuck in the kitchen by preparing as much as possible in the days leading up to the event. Many dishes can be prepared a few days before and reheated the day of.

-Consider potluck- If time and cost are an issue, go potluck style. Potlucks take a huge weight off the host by reducing work load and expense.

-Outsource the clean-up- Call on friends and family to help with cleanup and don't feel the need to do it all that night. Once the food is safely stored away, hit the hay. The rest can wait until morning.

So, relax and enjoy yourself this holiday season and get back to what the season is really all about!
